All things are connected…

“Connections” has been selected as part of the New Zealand Collection at the World Quilt Exhibition in the USA. It is expected the collection will be viewed by over 40,000 people in the USA, at exhibits in New Hampshire, Pennsylvania, California, and Florida.

Humans are intertwined and connected with all the other species of life on this planet. 22% of our DNA is the same as a daffodil. What we do to the planet we do to ourselves.

Studies have shown that plastic fibres are found in 83% of the World’s Tap Water. Globally, microplastic pollution has become so invasive and ubiquitous – it’s estimated eight million tonnes of plastics now enter the sea each year – that the United Nations has likened its impacts to climate change.

Our New Zealand Green lipped mussels and other kaimoana have been found to have microplastic fibres in their tissue. We are all connected by air, water, and soil. If one is contaminated, it gets in everything. My concern is that no studies have been done on the effects of the microplastic fibres on human tissue.
