Exciting news.
One of my textile pieces has been selected to represent New Zealand at the World Quilt Show in the USA. Only 20 quilts from New Zealand are chosen. The quilts go to the World Quilt Show (11-14 August 2021), then off to two East coast venues – Pennsylvania National Quilt Extravaganza (16-19 September) and The Quilt & Sewing Festival of New Jersey (17-20 November 2021).
I started working on this piece during the March /April 2020 New Zealand lockdown for Covid-19. We stayed at home for 5 weeks in our household bubble. Everyday we would go for a walk in the nearby parks and explore nature. To cope with the social constraints of the lockdown, I worked on “Memories”. As a child I would play with my grandfather’s kaleidoscopes. I would spend many hours turning the kaleidoscope tubes, and create different shape and colour combinations.
