The most important organism on Earth is algae.
There are more than 7000 different species of algae. Most algae live in the oceans, but they also live in fresh water and even on land.
While out and about in Rotorua, and the surrounding area, I have found wonderful algae.
It is estimated that photosynthetic algae produce between 70 and 80 percent of the oxygen in the atmosphere. Algae produce about 330 billion tons of oxygen each year. When we pollute the oceans, we are killing ourselves.
The variety of colours and textures fascinate me.
